The Path Forward

Quick-Look Assessment

Launched in December 2021, the Path Forward was an ambitious administrative reorganization plan with 41 recommended initiatives leading to robust change across the university. In early August 2023, and at the direction of General (Ret.) Mark A. Welsh III, interim president, a small team was charged with leading a quick-look assessment on the Path Forward. Learn more about the quick-look assessment, including recommendations and next steps, communicated to the university community on Oct. 4.

Forty-one working groups were tasked with researching and discussing how to implement recommendations approved by former Texas A&M President M. Katherine Banks in the Path Forward, an ambitious initiative that provided guidance for carrying out the university’s mission and vision.

The plan, which was created after months of surveys, interviews and research, is a continuation of the Vision 2020 roadmap created by Aggie leaders in the late 1990s.

Former President Banks announced 41 recommendations based on the report in December 2021, emphasizing a commitment to helping Texas A&M advance its academic mission by providing the highest quality of undergraduate and graduate programs while developing new understandings through research and creativity.

The 19-member Strategic Implementation Committee, oversaw the working groups with much of the work implemented by the fall after results were presented to Banks.
